v dub

A few months ago I made te decision to sell my truck and make my vdub
a daily driver. After driving the beetle for months I decided I should
take care of the rust issues afflicting it along with the hideous
paint job. So while I was on vacation I sent her to the paint shop.
The paint job took quite a bit longer then I expected but the paint
job was twenty times better then I had hoped.
The problem however is ever since age started looking good she started
running bad. Before getting painted I ha the valves adjusted and a few
other minor things and when ibpicked her up things seemed good. I
arrived home and loaded up the family for a ride. she wouldn't start,
and this happened gain and again when she was warmed up along with a
lot of backfiring with my dad an I attempting to get her all adjuste
out. So then after being faced with failure on all quick fix attenpts
I thought ok I will just buy a new carb and skip rebuilding the old
one since I am going to be driving her all the time. After the new
carb was installed she ran even worse when she was warm and her gas
tank( which was replaced prior o the paint job) was dumping gas and
ruined the paint by the filler cap. After alarming a collegue when I
dumped gas in the work parking lot I took her in for some more
adjustments and the gas leak. finally a week later I recieved her back
thinking all the problems had at last been resolved. Upon receipt of
her I noticed a piece of paper was shoved in the passenger window and
as I drove home the window just slid all the way down. Not a big deal
I thought I already new the window regulator was on the fritz. in fact
I already had a replacement ready at home for later but for now I will
ljust park it in the garage.
With everything seemingly in order I headed off to work with part one
of the trip down and everything was looking good. Things started to go
awry in part two of the journey on the way back home. She started
running bad at the same point as before with no improvement, so I went
to park her in the carport so I could do some carb adjustments myself.
She died before I could even get out of the car and back to the engine
compartment. Not an uncommon occurance in An old cw beetle ao
unalarmed I turned the key but she barely turned over coughed rattled
and died again. Now she wouldn't start or een try to start at all. I
was left with a dilema since she was in the carport I had to either
push her into the garage or attempt to install the new window
regulator myself. i attempted to install the regulator but it is
either tweaked or I am just oo dumb to figure it out or some kind of
combo of the two but after about four hours I gave up and dcided to
push he into the garage.
thank you to th neighbor who came over to help despite having her
small child with her. bo and I were having a hard time getting it up
the slope into the garage wih just the two of us.
at any rate the moral of this story is it matters more what is on the
insidethen the outside. Apparently my vdub was insulted I gave her a
paint job and now refuses to cooperate so I would like to publicly
apologize to her here. I am truly sorry that you hate the color green
and that I imposed my idea of vanity on you. please I will buy you
synthetic motor oil and premium gas just stop breaking .
